Live music in Hartlepool is alive and kicking mainly due to the efforts of ‘Tommy’. Tommy has brought the likes of Krissy Mathews and Chantel McGregor here when they were bairns, and these days, Americans are queuing up to play this unlikely sounding music hot spot.
Tommy has used other venues which have mentions in the forum but the Supporters has been the focal point for rock and Blues for about 5 years.

Next gigs
Sun 13 Jan ....The Whitaker/Rose Band ....featuring Mick Whitaker on vox….Paul Rose on gtr…..John Dawson on bass and Steve Dolder on drums ......SOLD OUT

Sat 16 Feb….Jose Ramirez [Costa Rica] on vocals and gtr and the Middle Walter Band who are Giles King on Harmonica….Rob [Tank] Berry on bass and drummer from The Hoax Mark Barret…..support from the excellent Tom JJ Band…..£15 /17

Another Hartlepool gig from Tommy at the nearby Belle Vue club are Xander and the Peace Pirates on Feb 2nd

All of Tommys tickets can be purchased on the Ents 24 website

Belle Vue is his general fall-back and occasionally he used to do acoustics at Nursery Inn in the town. Tommy’s also used the Corporation Club and Outon Manor when the old Cameron’s Club base closed down: before that there was the legendry Woodcutters….

Tommy’s too modest a guy to claim he puts the heart into Hartlepool, but by God he gives it a mighty beat….

March 29th (Fri) - Whitesnake UK - The Tribute, Total Thunder

May 25th (Sat) - Sinnerboy, The Dirty South

See he’s also managed to snaffle the 2020 RUF Caravan in April, headed by Jeremiah Johnson.

A pretty varied line-up, Johnson a Blues Rocker; Whitney Shay more jazz-leanings (little like Kyla Brox) and Ryan Perry is more Country.(Wonder if he’s the same Ryan Perry as used to pitch for the Tigers & Nationals in MLB?)

As well as the [usually] Saturday evening gigs, over the last couple of years Tommy has been putting on gigs at the Supporters on early Sunday evenings (5pm-8pm-ish).: lower-key, lower price (around £4) but same high quality.

Haven’t sufficient room at the moment to put on the main gig-guide, but here’s a list of what I know is coming on in the near future:-

12th Jan - Kindred Spirit / Blues Mojo
26th Jan - Sidelined
9th Feb - Electric Sheep
23rd Feb - Herbal Remedy
15th March - The Hookahs + John Whitehill
29th March - Deep Blue Sea
19th April - The Warrens + Poppy & Charlie
3rd May - Emma Wilson Band with Andrew & Jamie Pipe
10th May - The Treecles (Beetles Tribute)
7th June - The Alan Wormald band
28th June - The Dirty South

As a regular to these gigs, I can recommend a Sunday Afternoon in Tommy’s place. As a post Script to the post, Blues Mojo are also two of the regulars but they are not playing because of ‘mates’, but are well worthy. At the Colne Festival last year, they were voted best Buskers, and therefore will be playing one of the main stages next year

Muchos Kudos to Tommy over in Hartlepool for bringing back some LIVE music. Last week, at a slight change of venue -  South Durhams Steelworks Club on Westbourne Rd (H/pool) a small stage area was set up in the beer garden and a socially distant number enjoyed the styling of Mr. Russ Tippins on a cool summer’s evening.

Buoyed by the success, at the same venue,  on Friday 17th, Auld Man’s Baccie will entertain, and I believe there’s another act booked for Sunday 19th; Marc Atkinson (5:30pm kick-off).

So, until we can get some sort of norm (i.e. inside), Tommy will be challenging the vagaries of the British Summertime and hopefully be putting on acts on a week-end throughout; and at a modest “door”.

I don’t think Tommy’s the only enterprising promoter feeling suffocated at the moment, so if there’s anything else happening out there, gizza shout and we’ll give it a mention….

If theres a man ready to bring back post covid gigs its Tommy of Hartlepool.
His cards are clutched tightly to his chest but watch out for a 3 day blues fest Nov 12th 13th 14th
I’m checking the Premier inn out now.

If you can’t the man to Skeggy - bring Skeggy to the man….. as the say.  Knowing Tommy, there’ll be plenty “good gravy”.

Saturday 13th:-
Billy Walton Band
