Want to learn to play like Aynsley?
Want to meet and jam with Aynsley & the band?
Well, here’s a great opportunity to learn “dangerous distortion; serious sustain”.
By the end of the week-end, you’ll faze, you’ll flange, you’ll fuzz; you’ll be fast, you’ll be flexible: just feel those frets.

January 17th - 19th 2014 & Jan 31st - Feb 2nd 2014 @ Denham Grove, Uxbridge

Check home page/Guitar tuition or sister site Straight Talkin’ Records for more details or contact via .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) . No matter if you’re a pure Strat-cat or have the feel for a Les Paul - all abilities welcome. Over 18s only though.
Get in quick as these sell-out faster than his gigs!

Wow, you know the year is flying by when these come up again

See Aynsley’s announced a perfect cure for “Summertime Blues” - he’s running another of the legendry workshops this September - 16th to 18th (2016).

Can’t believe its “Workshop Week-end” already - way to beat those post-Christmas Blues, by learning some Blues.
I’ll have to get down sometime; maybe when there’s a Hurdy-Gurdy session. By the way, anyone got a spare Hurdy-Gurdy?

Have a great time folks…... Remember, guitars go strings to the front….. That’s my contribution.

Also for the budding guitarists, from the novice to the adept; 2019’s Guitar weekends with Aynsley & co .

From Aynsley & Steph:-
Some of you have already seen the ALGW events page has been updated.. It’s official.. We’ve now booked next year’s GUITAR EVENT(S) OF THE YEAR!
By popular request, we’ve re-booked back at Denham Grove for all those who couldn’t make it this year. The hotel has been under new management for the past year and we’ve re-negotiated with them. Unfortunately the costs (everywhere) have been increased for next year so for the first time ever we’ve had to put the price up. We’ve only increased the rate by the price increase we’ve been given, so next year’s events will stand at £355 per person.

For all those wanting Buxton, don’t worry - we’ll be back there later in the year in 2019 and will be holding the songwriter course, which will also feature Andrew Price, (who’s currently working on a similar project locally in Leicester). Apologies we didn’t get round to that this year.. I’ve had my hands a bit busy recently!

As usual.. Let me know if you’d like a place and I’ll get the bookings started!

If anybody picks up this months copy of Blues In Britain, (march 2019) there’s a nice piece on the tuition weekend at Denham Grove. Written by Graham Hutton, who is more at home holding his camera than holding a guitar. Graham has only been playing for 8 months and he said the weekend was a great deal of fun as well as learning a few tricks from the gaffer.
Just goes to show that these weekends really are for everyone and not just the experienced guitar slingers

Not an “Aynsley Workshop” per-se,  but Aynsley has signed up as guitar tutor at the Corfu Rock School in July; 16th - 23rd.  Details of what looks a tempting package are on the front page but it doesn’t say if Aynsley will be demonstrating any silken skills on the ol’ bouzouki……  wink

Even Hank & Brute had a go back in the 1960’s - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdCRNKuxYEc

As part of the service, here’s a starter for you:  The conventional modern tuning of the trichordo (6 strings, in three pairs) bouzouki is D3D4–A3A3–D4D4 whereas the tetrachordo bouzouki has 8 metal strings, which are arranged in 4 pairs, known as courses, typically tuned C3C4–F3F4–A3A3–D4D4 (i.e., one whole step below the four high strings of a guitar).

However, the bouzouki turns up in Irish Folk music, commonly tuned G2D3A3D4; apparently in an attempt to replicate the open, droning sound of Appalachian “clawhammer” banjo. Other tunings used, are “octave mandolin” tuning G2 D3 A3 E4, and “Open D” tuning A2 D3 A3 D4. “Open G” G2 D3 G3 D4, is used by some players and has proven useful for “bottleneck” slide playing. (Generally, the Irish bouzouki has a wider, flatter body with straighter sides.)
