Aynsley, here are some suggestions for two new places in Edinburgh you could play.

The Picture House is a brand new venue which has a capacity of 1500. It would be great to see you there (possibly on a co-headline date). Walter Trout is one of the first artists due to play there.

A far smaller venue is The Three Monkeys which puts on blues acts every Saturday, some are fee paying other not. Might be best suited to an acoustic gig, but Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes managed to fit on stage (just).

It has a sister pub called The Barrels Alehouse in Berwick Upon Tweed, where Oli Brown is to play next month:

Hopefully you could make one of these venues following a date at Blaydon or The Cluny in the near future!

Other forum users, please feel free to add other venue suggestions below this one - maybe we can devise a tour of places Aynsley has never played before!

Couple of really good ones

The Carling Academy Liverpool and Southport theatre.
Would be great to see you at either of them, preferably sooner rather than later.

When was the last time Aynsley toured the U.S.? Believe it or not, AL is promoted quite nicely by iTunes in the States. I wish he’d follow Back Door Slam’s example by spending some time here. There are a number of Blues/Music Festivals during the Summer that he could play in plus gigs in big towns like Chicago,L.A.,Memphis,New York City and especially Austin, Texas. I may take Duncan’s suggestion and come over to England to see him play, but it would be nice to see him at say The Rum Boogie Cafe on Beale Street better.

I agree with you Indy. With the new album due about next February, it would be good to see a month or so of heavy touring in major UK (not just English) towns and cities in February and March. Perhaps a double headlining tour like the Double Vision tour with someone like Ian Parker, Ian Siegal or Matt Scofield, followed by around a month of dates in the most receptive European countries , ie. Holland, Belgium, Germany and France. Ideally that should be followed by two or three months in North America. Back Door Slam have had great success in the US this year and Jon Amor (ex Hoax) has built himself a following in Canada, so it can be done. There is great interest shown in other forums (such as Joe Bonamassa’s ) for Aynsley and his music (and considerable disappointment that the 2007 shows with Chris Duarte and Jeff Healey did not happen). These could be finished with some festivals as Indy suggests. Hopefully these could be followed by a triumphant return to the UK in late summer next year for some dates on the festival circuit here (and not necessarily just the blues festivals). By then there should be plenty requests for gigs in all the places I’ve mentioned and probably more besides! Written down it all sounds so easy! I guess that logistically that may not be the case, but I feel 2009 has the potential to be a really big year for Aynsley if planning is started early.
PS Don’t worry Aynsley you can have a quiet January! smile
