Their live at Cottiers Theatre Glasgow is one fine album. Moving On is also very good as is their acoustic album New Moon Over Memphis. I thank Britbabe for knowing about this group. Ian S. may be the best individual Bluesman, but the Nimmos are my favorite band in the U.K. at present. I’m a little surprised you aren’t familiar with this band.

I’m addressing the situation as we speak and getting the live one. To be honest I’ve got a copy of Picking Up The Pieces somewhere, listened to it once and felt slighlty disappointed, but I’ll dig it out again too. Actually I nearly saw them live twice, one was sold out, the other time I had a wedding to go to.
It typical of us Scots to judge ourselves harder than anyone else smile

I’m in the same boat as well, Duncan. I’ll sometimes dismiss a group without giving it my full attention. A good example would be Ian Parker. Originally I thought his music to be too soulful, but on subsequent listens I’ve found him to be quite good. Red Wine is my favorite Nimmos’ song, but there are many others. They sound alot like the bands in Memphis sound. I call that type of music “Fun Blues"… wrap your hands around an adult beverage, tap your feet and if the mood hits ya, get up and dance. Did exactly that years ago at a club in St. Louis with the Fabulous Thunderbirds (Jimmy Vaughn was still with them) and George Thorogood playing. A magical night for me and the Wife.

Yes, my initials listens have suggested it is pretty good. Movin On was a track that stuck with me. I know what you mean about Fun Blues, funny I identifed a serious one! Won’t make Derby, but I’ve been tipped off that they have a homecoming gig in Glasgow on 29th November that I could hopefully make (wife permitting!).

Gotta say the Nimmo’s in Derby were superb! Was the best gig I’v been to since the last Aynsley outing, only slightly marred by a guy at the front who thought he owned the place and kept pushing my missus. Could have swung for him!
Also my copy of Back Door Slam arrived just in time for the trip. Made the journey that more pleasant. Sort of reminds me of Free in a few places. Exellent disc.
