The album, Live! On the Radio, by Greg Koch, is what I’ve envisioned what Joe B. might sound like if he had a good singer fronting him. Standing On Shaking Ground is amped Blues at its best. Haven’t had time to see if they’ve got vids on Youtube but I’m sure they do. Greenose - if you don’t know this band then take this as my first payment back for the great Peter Green stuff.

Eldo - Am glad you like Greg Koch. The album you want to get is Live!On the Radio. It’s his newest release, recorded live. His other stuff of studio recordings are a bit hit and miss. His singer is a guy named Malford Miligan and I think the same rhythm section seen on Youtube. You’re absolutely right about the Zeppelin improv on YT—Greg rocks! I first found him awhile back where he did some rock tunes with Richie Kotzen but nothing else. It always pays to keep checking on promising artists when Big Brother itunes or its English counterpart decide it’s time to enlighten the masses. BTW, speaking of Youtube, have you ever listened to Stevie Salas? One of my favorite vids on YT is Stevie Salas Live In Japan Studio with T.M. Stevens doing I think Stand Up. Be warned though it’s not the blues but funk. Also bought some of Gwyn Ashton after reading your praise of him and agree the guy’s got some chops.

Small world, Malford Miligan and I have mutual friends lol - who is it I know him from, not with Greg Koch?  Man I wish I could sort out my head better Stevie Salas is amazing, I know him mostly from working with Sass Jordon, whom I LOVE.

Malford is formerly of Storyville and Double Trouble. I love Sass Jordan too—Stevie both played and produced both her cds. His buddy Richie Kotzen also plays guitar on the discs.

Indy - thanks - I’ll order the Live on the Radio cd off Amazon - just looking at Stevie Salas /Richie Kotzen Shapes of Things on youtube - pretty good - I used to have a Stevie Salas album - think it was called Colourcode - think he was more funk/rock - bit like Extreme - also had a Kotzen album - still got it somewhere - bit like Satriani - glad you bought some Gwyn Ashton - saw him play last thursday - awesome power duo - the drummer a bit like a young Dave Grohl - what album did you buy????

Eldo—I’m SOL for the Electric Boys on my faithful itunes site, but did get to listen to Hanoi Rocks and like ‘em. Gonna check with my Hair Metal buddy to see if he’s got some of their music. As for Gwyn Ashton, I got stuff from Prohibition, Fang It and Beg Borrow & Steel. All of it’s good stuff - Gwyn reminds me a little of Johnny A on steroids. A little Jazzy/Blues/Rock. My fave songs of his are Get Up, Get Over It, Hot In Here and Ball and Chain.
I also got about 4 songs by Corey Harris and really like that slide acoustic stuff. Good recommendations all—Thanks!

Sorry folks, not ignoring you I’ll check out Greg Kich and W T Feaster Band asap. Actually I saw Richie Kotzen live once, in my hair metal days he was playing with Poison (why did I admit that!). Good guitarist, not too aware of his solo stuff.

Malford Milligan is the reason Greg Koch is on the map—might want to check out his Storyville and solo stuff—it’s all pretty good. Roscoe Beck on bass is in a class with Eric Czar imo and the drummer is no slouch. These are the reasons his Live on the Radio towers over his previous music because it allows him to do what he does best and that’s shred his smokin’ Fender.

A challenge to the lovely Mr Czar!  Them’s fightin’ words matey!  Checked out a vid on youtube and yessir, Mr R Beck is fantastic.  Thanks for the reminder about where I knew M Milligan from too, should’ve known really lol.  Think I’ll put Mr Koch top of my ‘must get next’ cd list.  For when I win the lottery cool mad

Malford Milligan provides stormin’ vocals on a couple of tracks on Eric Johnson’s Alien Love Child - Live And Beyond album.  Well worth checking out.

Mo—Thanks for the Eric Johnson/Malford Milligan tip. Both songs are great and in my ipod. There’s another interesting album by Greg’s bassist, Roscoe Beck that includes Malford, Eric, Greg Koch, David Grissom, Kim Wilson, Robben Ford and one of my favorite singers, Ruthie Foster. You can sample the album on Roscoe’s website. There’s a different line-up for each song but be warned it includes some Jazz in the mix. BTW the drummer for the Koch and Roscoe albums is Tom Brechtlein who’s played with a number of musicians ranging from Robben Ford to Chick Corea. The guy is extremely skilled and forms a powerful rhythm section with Mr. Beck imo.
