Got Evil Woman Blues and yes it’s quite good. Now just think of some others and let me know. I can get Taste’s Best of on itunes and will get it soon. Bought WT Feaster Band’s Long Overdue at Britbabe’s suggestion and was pleasantly surprised. She’s planning on seeing them tonight and I’m late with some info for her but better late than never—their album’s great! Bought the whole thing. Wish I could see them at a cool beer hall anywhere in England.

That Feaster band look good - some SRV style stuff - Britbabe must be seeing them at Blaydon - looks like they have done a North England tour - I am down south in London and they’re not playing near here - shame - another time perhaps............

She told me they played three Hendrix songs in the first half hour and I almost choked on me Wheaties lol. She complained about a coupla other things that included rude behavior of some Yanks (probably from New York or Caliefornia) but overall said it was a good show. I’m not surprised cause the lads can play. I’ll look them up when they get back in the States.

Couple of corrections, Indy my dear!  Geordies are the local people in Newcastle, not persons from your side of the pond!  And not that it makes any difference but the Hendrix songs were in the 2nd set and I was probably exaggerating at 30 mins, I expect it was more like 40-45 mins.  They were Hey Joe which happens to be the Hendrix song I like the least, Machine Gun and . . . damn, my memory fails me.  Actually Simon they didn’t bother me much because most of the rest of their stuff was straight blues so I appreciated their rockier nature.  Gonna put a few words on the ‘have you heard’ section right now lol.

I now stand humbly corrected. And yes I’m also guilty for embellishing the Hendrix irritation. Couldn’t help myself.

Alot of the WT Feaster Band’s videos were shot at The Slippery Noodle in Indianapolis, Indiana. Indy’s about a 3 hour drive from my home and the Noodle’s well known in the Midwest. The band’s doing a Blues Festival in Terre Haute in September that I might go to. And if I go the first thing I’m gonna do is ask them to play some Hendrix… maybe Hey Joe… and then I’m going to offer a toast to my buddy, Lynne.

I checked Carvin out and have to admit I wasn’t too impressed with his Youtube videos. Kinda over-the-top Jimi impersonating. His music off his album, however, I thought was quite good. Speaking of JH, I’m going to stop teasing Britbabe about her lack of enthusiasm for him. I saw him shortly before he died and although he aknowledged the crowd by playing the “Hits” that night, I got the impression he was a little embarrassed playing that music—he had definitely moved past that stage in his life. The rest of that concert was all Blues and yeah baby yeah it was so sublime!

ok - Carvin is great live - a real showman - plays in local pubs so you get up real close - some vids on youtube he sounds out of tune because he plays so hard, but he is well worth seeing if he plays locally - does loads of SRV stuff too - I’m with you on the Britbabe Hendrix thing - our teasing has run it’s course..........

Indy - re Hendrix, I never got to see him - I guess he was only around for 4 years between 67 and 71 playing that stuff so am surprised that he would have been fed up with it - although I guess most bands get fed up with playing the same stuff all the time whilst touring - but they thrive on the adrenalin rush of playing live - when you think about the material and albums Hendrix released during that time, it’s quite incredible - and most of it has stood the test of time - bands nowadays seem to release an album every 2 or 3 years!!!

Eldo - I saw a documentary awhile back about the Electric Ladyland sessions and was stunned by the detail that went into that recording. The irony though is that the biggest song on that album was a “cover” of the most covered artist outside Beethoven - Bob Dylan. And now, forty years later, it’s Jimi every Blues Band everywhere (Aynsley included) is covering.

Indy - I guess Dylan hasn’t really done that many songs worthy of rock bands covering - All Along The Watchtower, being the one I guess you refer to here - you may know otherwise, but I have never liked Dylan, although I respect his ability as a songwriter, he’s just not my bag........I think Electric Ladyland is now 40 years old and still remains a masterpiece in rock history and a must for all rock collections.

Maybe I exaggerated a bit about Dylan being the most covered artist, but he’s for sure near the top. Couldn’t agree with you more about his music, but there’s no denying his genius as a songwriter.
