Simon McBride sounds very good. Will investigate further. I will do the same for Vulnerable Things. Which songs would you recommend? The Myspace samples are all pretty good but I’m sure they’re others.
You can hear all tracks from the Vulnerable Things debut album here:
Sherman Robertson “I’m the Man” from 1993 - had forgotten what a great album it is - and he’s well worth seeing live - I think he is over here in the UK soon.................
Checked into Sherman Robertson and liked what I heard. His album Going Back Home includes an all-star group of musicians that include John Fogerty, Bill Payne and Richie Haywood of Little Feat and Joe Sublett. His album I’m a Man is not included, but I’ll look into it further - Thanks for the tip!

He’s here a lot this year, he has already played Maryport, Edinburgh and a festival on the Isle of Man and is due to play Tenbury, Carlisle and Howden blues festivals in November. He’s not very prolific with his recordings though!
Eldo - Checked out Billy Walton and liked his guitar playing. Will add him to my watch list.
On another note, I’ve never seen Roy Buchanan mentioned in the forum and wonder what ya all think about him. After Jimi died and long before SRV, Roy was probably America’s most accomplished blues guitarist. Legend has it that he was Eric Clapton’s first choice for Derek and the Dominos. He was also the first choice of Mick Jaggar to replace Brian Jones in The Rolling Stones. Jeff Beck honored him in his song Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers. I was thinking of him lately after hearing about Sean Costello and being reminded of how fragile life is. I’m sure everyone’s heard his music, but if you haven’t you should give him a listen.
Indy - yeah - I’ve got the Roy Buchanan double Anthology cd - some great tracks on there - he was highly regarded as a player, but probably lacked the “rock star” image, and his death in 1988, aged just 48, perhaps indicates his state of mind at the time, due to his lack of commercial success and his subsequent drugs and alcohol problems.
Eldo - I came across the group John Lisi & Delta Funk and their album Dead Cat Bounce and think you’ll like them if you don’t already. Power Blues/Funk/Rock trio that includes Cody Dickinson of North Mississippi All-Stars. In fact, their sound is similar to some of the better material of the All-Stars. There’s a couple songs off the album on their Myspace site and you may be able to sample songs on CD Baby.

Yeah,do that and let me hear what you think...I think that some of these rather unknown bands are really good, sometimes even better than the stuff you hear on the radio...at least what you hear on german radio channels
I second the big-up to you on that eclectic list, Kate. I would say that I can’t bear Coldplay, but a couple of weeks ago I was doing some serious cooking and had the radio on, and there was a Coldplay live session - and it was absolutely fantastic.
Hey Britbabe,
I’ve always listened to Coldplay, but I think it’s not music for everyone. Their gig in Hamburg was awesome, I’ve never been on a concert like this ( if we do not consider Aynsley’s gigs :-D :-D )
