I heard of Aynsley thru the fine folks at Joe’s forum.I’m an ancient and thought “The Thrill is Gone” after SRV died. And then I heard this “kid” playing a guitar everyway possible and it slapped me back into the world of the hopeful! He’s across the pond soon. If you haven’t seen him, catch a show..AMAZING..great voice, band, all are great guys!!!
I had the chance to see Mr. Joe Bonamassa at the Rockpalast (Burg Satzvey) in Germany...Really cool concert...but no german gigs this year ...but I will be visiting the Pistoia Blues Festival in Italy, because one of my biggest musical heroes is playing there...Mr. Gregg Allman (I think Joe will be performing there too)...does anybody like the Allman Brothers??? I’m absolutely addicted to their fantastic music…
I managed to catch Joe Bonamassa on the Paul Jones Show (Radio 2 UK) the other night. Sounded great. Can’t be certain, but I think it was from a London show. It’s still up for listening if you missed it!
Having seen Walter trout about 10 times now.. and Ainsley lister twice.. Robben Ford once.. Jeff healy twice..I was looking forward to Joe Bonamassa at Holmfirth. Great venue pity about all the Tossers at the back shouting. But Joe? Well a cross between Robben Ford and Walter Trout. .A bit more music and less : I can do this with my guitar: Would have done it for me..He is back in leeds in feb at the cockpit. But next time I will be going to see Ainsley instead. And Walter at leeds.
Baznpat, sorry you didn’t like the show. I adore Walter Trout as a musician he’s a MONSTER and as a human he’s a sweetie. His whole band are great guys! I’ve seen them 2x this year. Robben Ford is a master, saw him at the Tampa Bay Fest. last year and my room mate will be seeing him this weekend. I do take exception to you’re saying you could play like Joe. He (in a tie with Buddy Guy) was voted Best Blues Guitar Player in the Guitar Players Readers Poll. So, I’ll wait to see an example of your skills when you post a video on youtube. In the meantime I think Ruf records will be grateful for your support of their clients..Cathy
Saw Joe last month in St Louis and he was awesome. However his current bandmembers weren’t nearly as good as Eric Czar or Kenny Kraemme. Eric Czar may be the best bass player I’ve ever seen/heard. Just learned about Aynsley and am floored by his talent. Look forward to seeing him if he comes to the states.
Hi Indy - do you keep up with Eric Czar via his myspace page? His talent ranges far beyond what he showed on bass guitar with Joe. I think he’s the most gifted and accomplished musician I’ve ever encountered, quite the sweetheart too - I hope he comes back to the UK sometime, I’d love to share a beer with him again.
Brit, Sorry but I’m only in the process of getting more music involving EZ. “Holy Man” by Joe Lynn Turner includes all three members of Joe Bonamassa. You probably already know this but David Gogo is right up there with Aynsley and Joe. I think of the three, that I’m liking Aynsley the best because he brings the total package. Joe Bonamassa should add another singer and get Eric back to compete with the Brit Phenom.
Hi Indy - had a lovely message from the redoubtable Mr Czar today how’s that for coincidence??!!! Take a stranger a birthday cake on their first tour in the UK and they never forget you . . . lmao! I am a HUGE David Gogo fan, I just wish he’d come to the UK but apparently he hates the food and will never cross the channel again - so I think next year’s European joyride may be to Holland or Germany to see him. Or Dave Hole. Or Anthony Gomes - now there’s an electrifying performer. If you’re on youtube, look me up (Britbritbabe on there) otherwise I’m likely to ramble on all day and night!
Thanks Brit for the Anthony Gomes mention. I’m getting his new cd “Music is the Medecine”. A funny thing happened with your other suggestion - when I googled Dave Hole I accidentally got David Hales and think he’s better than Hole or Gomes. Check out his second album “On My Own” and let me know what you think. Bought Aynsley’s live DVD yesterday and have to admit to being disappointed. It brought to mind Jimi Hendrix playing with a garage band. Since the bass and drums sound much better on his albums I’m writing this off to a bad recording.

I agree. Joe’s new band stinks. The 3 piece band was one of Rock’s all time greatest. I couldn’t stop raving to people about them. His recent albums do nothing for me. On a side note… I turned on this lady at work to Joe’s old band and she said they were great. Then I gave her the Everything I Need disc by Aynsley and she liked him even more. She said, This guy is an even better singer!
Don,
You’re right, Aynsley’s the better singer and his song-writing is also better than Joe’s. But, that’s where the comparison ends. I’d put Aynsley in my top ten musically on guitar but he’s not anywhere near as talented as JB. And that’s in no way a slam against AL-- he’s a damn fine axeslinger. It’s just I saw Hendrix and Joe from less than twenty feet,37 years apart, and there wasn’t much difference between the two. Before I heard about Joe, my top two favorite guitarists were Jimi and SRV. My favorite now is Mr. Bonamassa, regardless the disappointing current bandmates. I’m hoping in the future JB parks his ego, gets a great lead singer and gets his original bass player and drummer back. He’s a superstar waiting to happen. I’m hoping for the same for Aynsley. With the right management he should be much bigger than he is currently. What irritates me the most is someone like Eric Clapton who should be promoting someone like Aynsley (who’s a fellow Englishman) is instead pushing Derek Trucks. Derek’s a great guitarist but he’s not lacking for promotion playing slide guitar for the Allman Brothers. Don’t give up on Joe--his new release on itunes, a live recording at Sheperds Bush in London(?) is pretty good. Great cover of ZZ’s Just Got Paid/Zeppelin’s Dazed And Confused and Mountain Time.
