Hi Eldo...got some Eric Gales stuff...he’s excellent...glad you like BDS too....have you heard BBChung King & The Buddaheads....absolutely brilliant...check out ‘Mumbo Jumbo’ on Youtube!.....
Best BB Chung King & The Buddaheads song is ‘Just For Fun’. I laughed myself SICK the first time I heard that - you gotta listen to the lyrics! Genius!
yeah - just been watching a load of BB Chung King vids on youtube - got any cds you wanna sell - can’t see any on ebay!!! - he is the dogs.............
...Got a few of Eric gales stuff..great vocals and heavy blues/rock sound...in places he sounds like Lenny Kravitz...Story of My life, That’s What I am and Picture of a Thousand faces are great albums...recently got into some great blues...Tab benoit being one and a great slidester by the name of Matt Woods & The Thunderbolts..sounds a tad like Stoney Curtis...glad you are enjoying Back Door Slam’s album..
Rockola - just checking out Tab Benoit on myspace - from the 4 tracks on myspace, he sounds a bit countryish to me - Eric Gales is great - I won the latest album on ebay a couple of days ago, so should arrive soon - I can’t keep up with all this new stuff!!!!
Hi Eldo..some of Tabs stuff can be like that, but he takes his influences from the deep south, Louisiana and Mississippi blues...’Fever on The Bayou’ is a great album, for me, but that is the wonder of the blues, there are so many diffent styles...I bought Sonny Landreth’s album ‘The Road You On’, which I thought was good, but when I got other stuff by him, it was way too Nashville....if you wanna hear some real whacky stuff...try Googling CC Adcock..lol..
Have you heard any Anthony Gomes stuff?...great voice..
No - not heard any of that stuff - just listening to the Pilgrimage album featuring Aynsley Lister, Ian Parker etc as Greenose asked if it was any good - its a bit hit and miss - some good tracks and a few to skip - worth getting though for a few quid - I see Buddy Whittington is back at Pete Feenstra venues in November - you seen him?? - check out on youtube
Jammy sod!..absolutely no one comes down here...sometimes they land in Cornwall on the way home...I actually emailed the venue I usually go to to register my disgust at them constantly booking 2nd rate trib bands instead of the real deal...I think Whittington’s hitting Cornwall, but don’t think I’ll get to see it Pity..he’s Mayall’s right hand man isn’t he?......do you think Pete Feenstra will open a venue down here if we ask him nicely?…

You may be the one place that has it even worse for live bands than Scotland. Hope you get some success at your venue. Its a lovely part of the country too!
Now if only we could get Back Door Slam to do any UK gigs - they do deserve all the success they get in the US though!
Hi greenose...mate of mine vists the Ferry in Glasgow..they seem to get some good stuff there...he saw Poppa Chubby and Aynsley there; also he got to see the legendary Buddy Guy in Glasgow....I tell you; if Columbus had,ve sailed down the Bristol Channel, he’d have fell off the edge of the World!

I was at Buddy’s gig too. I guess at his age he has earned the right to play what he likes, but I wish he’s dropped some of the flashy stuff, Hendrix and Cream tunes and played a few more of his own tunes. Was great to see him play though. I wish all blues gigs could be as well attended as that one!
Been to the Ferry a few times, Walter Trout plays there every year. Miss out on Poppa, but as I’d seen Aynsley and Trower the night before I could live with that. Joe Bonamassa used to play the Ferry too, but grown too big for it now.
..Last decent gig I saw was Joe Satriani in Bristol..I may have metioned it before, but my sonlives there, so I can crash at his....2hr trip from here…
