Anybody know what the deal is with the Amberley gig on 17th July? Can’t find anything on the net apart from last years festival, and a beer festival in August.

Hi Jenks

Like you I had a look at this one as the Black Horse Festival in Hastings/Battle was an excellent gig and I wondered if the two were related.

Sadly it doesn’t look like it.

This gig is actually a 3-day festival called Pub In The Park, hosted by The Black Horse Inn, Littleworth, Amberley near Stroud, Gloucestershire (NOT Surrey! V confusing or what? LOL) The fest is outdoors and not actually in the pub and there is a website which I’m told will have online ticket sales etc soon, tho yesterday it was still just a front page - http://www.pubinthepark.co.uk  Your best bet for info at the moment is to phone the number on the gig list and speak to a lovely lady called Shelley grin

The last appearance there by Aynsley caused quite a conversation afterwards as I recall…

And it’s the day before my birthday but too far away. How unfair is that? :-(

I submitted a review, a bit critical as I recall (not about the performance, but the nature of the gig/venue) as I thought Aynsley could, and should, have been doing better. It was a bit bizarre really, ‘cos on one side of the pub (at the front) you had the real ale heads complete with corduroy jackets, leather pads on the sleeves, and woolly jumpers (only joking) and at the rear, all the people who had come to see Aynsley, and those who had ambled in from the front. Aynsley played in the conservatory, which had the glass panels removed. All the band said after that they thoroughly enjoyed it, and were treated very well by the hosts. So it’s no surprise they have come back.
See my post from last year.
As this is the closest Aynsley will come to Bristol, I will be there, with a few pals in tow.
I’ve even turned a gig down with my own band to attend, much to the annoyance of the rest.
I know it’ll be worth it!!

As the event this year will be in a marquee and not the pub, hopefully that will address many of your concerns from last time Spasmcasm. I’m sure you’ll have a great night, wish I could make it but I’ll look forward to your review afterwards grin

Hi Jenks,

Yeah that confused me for a while as I thought it might be Amberley near Arundel but I didn’t know a Black Horse down that way.

Any news on that Rudgewick Festival you mentioned a while back?

I spoke to the pub today, and the original intention was to hold this years beer festival (with music) in a Marquee, as the beer and music have become increasingly more popular in recent years. However, they couldn’t get the necessary approval from the local authorities and the beer and music festival will be held in the pub, and it’s grounds as it has been in recent years. This means Ayns will be playing again in the conservatory at the rear. For those who haven’t seen it, they take out the window panels of the conservatory, and the band plays inside to the assembled crowd on the patio/eating area. It’s actually quite neat and VERY up close and personal!! I would estimate the area would hold about 100 max (give or take), so the obvious thing is to come early, given the recent rise in Aynsleys profile.

Admission on the door is £8, and there are three or four bands on during the Friday that Ayns is playing. (17th)Obviously, if you buy beer tokens for the real ale part that is more wedge again.
For anyone going…see you there!!!! grin

That’ll explain why there’s still no website for the url Shelley gave me.  Have a good time, Rachie, sounds like a lovely set up.  I thought I had it nailed - then I remembered I’d invited No1 son home for the weekend, so that put the kaibosh on it!
