I am a big fan of The Hoax. Too bad they are no longer together. They are : Jon Amor & Jesse Davey on lead guitars, Hugh Coltman on vocals and harmonica, Robin Davey on bass and Mark Burnett on drums. One of the best live blues bands I have ever heard. If you like Aynsley, Ian Parker, Joe Bomamassa, or KWS you will love these guys. All of the CD’s are worth having. Humdinger is the best studio and Live Forver is th only live CD commerically release except for some MP3’s that are no longer available. The Hoax live performances are killer.

I heard 1 track by them on a cd with “Classic Rock” which was very good. Scott McKeon is also someone I want to check out more often. I fact he’s playing in the Greenwood in Northolt soon and I might check him out.

There’s a group of Hoax fans on the Bonamassa site that turned me on to them and I was blown away. I’m so upset that they ended before I ever heard of them. My friends have shared DVD’s and CD’s. I have Humdinger and “Live”, but nothing beats the real live stuff. So, get them together for a show with Aynsley and we US fans will have to come to England!!!!!

Are you going to be able to make any of the dates for The Hoax Reunion tour? If so, do you plan on recording any of the shows or know anyone who plans on going? I have lot of Hoax lives shows and would be willing to trade with anyone who can get me copies of any of the Reunion shows.

Hi Hoaxfan,
If I can get a ticket I’ll be going to a UK gig.
As for recording yes I hope to. I’ll let you know if I’m successful.
Cheers

Here’s an idea for all of you who can’t make it to any of the scheduled shows or can’t afford to travel overseas to see The Hoax Reunion Tour.
I started a topic on Jesse Daey’s website about the tour. I suggested Jesse make a professionaly produced DVD documenting the upcomming Reunion Tour.
If enough people agree it’s a great idea on his website, maybe Jesse while do it. Take ten minutes to register and comment on my post.
After all if a professonally produced high quality of Live Hoax footage was available, wont’ you buy a copy or three? I KNOW I would and it would make a great gift to others as well.
Help me out and let’s make this happen.
This is jesse’s website.

I thought this might be of interest to some of you. Its a link to an MP3 from the Hoax’s live album Live Forever. The song is called Driving Blind and I really like it. It is representative of what a great live band the Hoax were:

You can also find the Hoax CD Humdinger 10th Anniversary Edition (which includes a DVD) at
http://www.thehoax.co.uk
I ordered it directly just on Friday. Seems they are sent by Jesse Davey himself. I should have asked him to sign it…

Lovestrats - 27 October 2008 06:59 PM eldo56 - 26 October 2008 09:25 AM Thanks - I orderred The Hoax cd “Sound Like This” off Amazon yesterday - will order the live one too
Eldo56 I highly recommend you get Humdinger , it was there last studio album. Some real Strong songs on there and (personal opinion) the best version of Stevie wonders Superstition.I have played this in bands and both Musician’s & audience really dig it.All album’s are Worth owning but Humdinger is the one. They done a couple of Gigs this year one at chiddingfold Club (everyone has player there) and another in Holland somewhere. For the Gigs they re-released Humdinger with a live DVD of which was originally released on Video back in the 90’s.Think Jon Amor’s Dad done the recording. Not best quality DVD you will ever see but again if you get old of this its worth having.
Still waiting for my copy of the Humdinger set to arrive. I shall let you know how I find the CD and the DVD when it does come (hurry up Jesse!)

You’re not as bad as me. I saw then back in their heyday in 1996, but did not follow up their performance by buying any of their albums until very recently! I was not so much into the blues back then. Actually I got home to find Humdinger HAS arrived, I’ll try to watch some of the DVD when the rest of the family have gone to bed!
Here’s something you may not know, on Jon Amor’s latest CD, the Unknown Soldier, Robert Plant plays harp on the song Ball & Chain! Its a good song, more Jon Spencer Blues Explosion than SRV. Indy you should look for that ones on Itunes. :)

They offer Humdinger 10th Anniversery version on iTunes and I got just 2 songs so far from it; Break My Groove and C’mon Susie. I’ll revisit the album and see what else there is to get. Their version of Superstition is just ok imo - I think Beck, Bogart and Appice did a far superior version.
