I found him on iTunes by total accident. All it took was listening to a 30 second preview of a song (can’t remember which one). I immediately downloaded my first AL album. I’d say within an hour I was downloading everything available on iTunes! Can’t wait until his comes to the USA.

I saw him at the Robin in Bilston, supporting Robin Trower.  I’ve not played anything else since!  I’m sure Robin Trower fans would lynch me, but AL was definitely the main act for me!!

I first heard Aynsley at Rock City in Nottingham where he was supporting John Mayall.  Can’t remember the year.  I think it was at least six years ago. Can someone help me out with this? We had gone to see Mayall but were blown away by ALB and asked the bass player(a big american guy called Colin!)who it was.  Seen him many times since, mainly at the Flower Pot in Derby and he gets better all the time.  Saw him last year there with Ian Parker and I thought I had died and gone to heaven!  Also the gig at Bilston recently was great but too short as they were only the support (criminal).

First saw AL BAND in 2007 as he was booked to play at the Boom Boom Club in Sutton - looked him up on youtube and was well impressed by the SRV/KW Shepherd style blues - went to that gig (supported by Oli Brown) and have since bought all the albums - also went to 100 Club gig a couple of months back and then the Trower gig last week - I’m surprised Aynsley hasn’t cracked the States, as some of the songs are so strong and you’d think they would have mass appeal........

Not sure where I first heard of his name, but I first heard Aynsley via his myspace page. I was impressed by the quality and variety of his tunes and have bought several of his albums and legally downloaded the others (via emusic).  Finally saw him live last month.

In the late nineties I think it was, Aynsley played at the Farnham Maltings Blues Festival and although I didn’t see them as doing something else there at the time I remembered people saying how good their set was.  Recently had the chance to catch up with music new to me and have been very happy to hear it !! grin and look forward to seeing them live.

After reading an article in guitarist mag I thought I would give the album a go, as it’s worked well for me in the past and I ‘discovered’ Eric Gales. Very glad I got the album, and then went to see Aynsley at Pacific Road, Birkenhead where he was supporting Trower. There wasn’t much Trower played that I couldn’t and not much Aynsley played that I could. I’m sure the billing was the wrong way round. Luckily I got to meet him after his show and what a top guy. Dead friendly. Would have liked to have talked about his Strat but didn’t want to be an anorak.
Can’t wait for the next gig when he’s headlining and we get a full show.

Guitarist magazine ran a top 50 blues guitarist feature many moons ago, Aynsley was in the up and coming blues artist, so i searched out some of his material liked it, and now own everything he`s released i believe. so far have not seen him him live apart from dvds but plan to.

It was at the Chicester Blues and Beer Festival back around 2000 or 2001.  I had never heard of bottom of the bill Anysley and was there to see top of the bill Robert Cray.  Aynsley played a 40 minute solo set that was simply awesome, much better than the other 2 support acts and better on that night than Robert.  Since then have managed to catch him at least once a year and will continue to do so whenever he is in the South East.  He deserves to be in bigger, better venues and hopefully for him will be, but it seems difficult for real working musicians to do well in this fadish fashion-lead X-factored country.  Incidently, speaking of Robert Cray he is touring the UK again at the moment and because he plays blues has probably not sold all the tickets. We are going to see him next week in Basingstoke of all places!

Hi,

At first I heard Aynsley at a friends house, after that I bought the first album and started playing his music on my radio station.
My personal “highlight” was meeting Aynsley (together with Ian and Erja) in person at the Moulin Blues Fest. were we did a small interview.. What a nice guy !!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hope to see him live again soon… and hey.. If you are reading this, please stop by at my station and we’ll make a radio session smile

Cheers,
T.

I saw/heard Aysley sober for the first time when he supported Robin Trower at the Thekla in Bristol. Whilst we all knew what to expect from RT, Ayns was a breath of fresh air, and in a different way, better than RT on the night. I confess I had seen Aynsley a couple of years before in Bristol, but was absolutely bolloxed on the night and can’t remember anything about it.

Whilst I’m here, and being new to Aynsley Lister, does anyone know why some tracks on the ‘98 “Aynsley Lister” cd are re recorded/repeated on the 2000 “Everything I need” cd????

RE the last part it might be cause the cd ‘Aynsley Lister’ I believe was recorded live so there slightly different in sound, not 100% sure though.

I first heard Aynsley surfing through itunes and was just blown away. It didn’t hurt also that the reviews were glowing of his talent. I like the new song on his myspace but any word on a new album?
