Hi John - yes, I know what you mean.  I’ve noticed loads of changes in his playing of songs I’ve heard hundreds of times both in solo and band gigs lately and I can remember how amazed I was the first time I heard him give Crossroads that funky treatment.  I was in Chester too and hopefully will be at the next solo gig in Sheffield - maybe see you there. cool smile

Hi all
Heard of Aynsley driving home from work. Paul Jones Blues night, radio 2. Sounded pretty good so had a look at this site. Went from there, now got his albums and dvd.
Went last week to see him in Sheffield on Thursday then again in Derby the following night. Loved it, a real treat seeing both the solo, then the ‘with band’ gigs.
Looking forward now to Boat Club gig @ Nottm early November.

hi all,i play guitar myself , and i came across aynsley on a blues compilation album in classic rock magazine , the tune was “wherever i am”. it totally blew me away , it is rare for me to instantly love a record , it usually takes a few listens , but this is one of those tunes that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up , pure class , so i obviously bought upside down , and it is a top class album from start to finish....................thanks aynsley

Hello everyone, I saw Aynsley at what I believe was his first ever appearance in the USA!
Pinedale Wyoming. Yes Wyoming! At the rodeo grounds. As a long time fan of Rory Gallager, I was blown away by Aynsley’s performance. I have been a fan every sense.

Best Regards,

Scott

I was at Music Live at the NEC in 2004 I think and Ayns was sat on one of the stands. My dad had seen the year before at our local venue so knew who he was and pointed him out to me. Surprised by his age, as I thought everyone my dad liked was old and wrinkly, I took a liking to him!!! A few months later in February 2005 he returned to our local venue (it is here I mention that he has never been back since *cough cough*!!). My dad persuaded me to go and have a listen to see if I liked the music and my god I did!! It all just spiralled from there!! Later on that year, for reasons I can’t be bothered to go into, I was in email contact with Aynsley and found out that he was going to be at Music Live again that year. So in that November (2005) I went to Music Live and met the man himself!!! The rest as they say is history!!!! So I’ve known Ayns for nearly 2 years now...god, how time flies!!

Like a few others i get Classic Rock Magazine and with it the bone rattlin blues CD a few months back, I really took to Joe Bonamassa and Rose Hill Drive, but the Aynsley track kept digging at me, I stuck the headphones on and that did the trick, bought the CD and then saw him and the band last week at the Keighley Blues Club, knockout! Smallish venue but for me spot on when watching bands, what i dont get is this, how come this guy is still playing these smaller gigs, he is a real talent? So Aynsley, if you read these, please carry on as you are and you said Keighley just great, Dave cool hmm

I first saw Aynsley supporting Wally Trout in The Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth in the late nineties.  Wally has been responsible for me seeing a few good blues/rock bands.

Also I was working for a while in Nottingham and the Running Horse was a good venue for Aynsley.

I see the Runner back on the gig list.  It would be nice to make a nostalgia trip down for that, I know a nice b&b just round the corner.

The first time I saw the Aynsley Lister Band performing was at a concert (april 30 2008) in Hoogland, the Netherlands. What a amazing guitarist he is! He’s a nice fellow too. I talked with him, and I had a special request. I was there with 13 yo Leif de Leeuw from Amersfoort (the Netherlands) who’s is a amazing blues-guitarist at his age. Aynsley let him play a song with the band and was surprised by his skills. The kid was very surprised and proud he could play in front of a audience with a guitarmaster such as Aynsley. Aynsley, thank you very much again!
The second time I saw Aynsley Lister was on may the 1st, at Klomp-pop in Ovezande, the Netherlands. I bought his last CD: Upsidedown. It’s very very good! Hope to see him once again in the Netherlands in the (near) future.
