I understand ALB are at the Y Theatre in Leicester on 7 June.  Can anyone confirm and if so, are they on their own?  I’ll definitely be there - and hopefully with as many friends and family as I can get there - this sound just HAS to be experienced by everyone!!

Thanks Britbabe!  Can’t wait!  What is it about this man and his music that stirs your soul?  It can’t just be me feeling like this!!

Who cares mate?!!  One should never try to explain away magic, one should simply revel in the feeling And no, you’re not the only one by a very long way - I’ll have to come to Leicester or somewhere soon and we can lift a jar or several.  D’you think you might be at the Runner in Notts for his solo there in September?  I’m definitely making the trip down for that, solos are too few and far between for my taste.

I live in Melton Mowbray, which is almost halfway between Leicester and Nottingham - much nearer than Bilston where I saw him on the 10th for the first time.  So, yes, Nottingham is a definite possibility.  I’ve come to appreciate this kind of music very late in life, but can’t tell you how glad I am - better late than never as they say!  My kids and colleagues think I’ve flipped, but I really don’t care.  I refuse to go into twinset and pearls and only listen to middle-of-the-road (safe) tunes played at a respectable volume.  I enjoy a huge variety of music but this is something very special.

And if you are coming to Nottingham and need a bed for the night, providing I’m still in my current house, there’s plenty of room here!  Stay in touch.  (love your signature!)

I’ll definitely be in Leicester on 7th. I also saw them in Bilston and 40 minutes was just not long enough so I had to find another gig to go to which is a full band set! I’ve been to the Y Theatre before. In Feb last year, to see Aynsley and Ian Parker. Its a great little venue!
I’m also hoping to get to the Runner in September. I went there this Feb to see Aynsley and Ian Siegal (both solo) and it was a brilliant night. I love that place. So hopefully I can work something out for that night. With it being a Thursday and a good 3 hour or more drive for me, it might be a little difficult, but I’ll try my best!!!

Aynsley’s fast growing a reputation amongst people I know...I hope he comes down to the Tavistock Wharf when he tours again....it’s a great venue and he’ll get a warm welcome!....BTW..I like the mini Jack Duckworth (Trower’s vocalist)...I couldn’t put my finger on who it was he looked like....not very Rock n roll!....we couldn’t hear a word either!.....I’m just about to buy another of Aynsley’s albums off Amazon..then another after that…

Is the Y theatre a stand up venue?  Can’t sit down listening to this band! I live near Leicester so will make it on the 7th if so. I identify with you Julieg. My family think i’ve flipped too! My daughter has recently turned 18 so hoping she can come with me to gigs now and I may even convert her to blues.

Last time I went to The Y it was standing so I presume it will be the same this time.
I know what you mean...I much much prefer to stand when watching a band.

Girls - we went to the gig at the Astoria in London on 23rd May and what a great night - Aynsley was bang on form - Trower was great too - some of you don’t seem to know his stuff too well - he was regarded by many as the white mans Jimi Hendrix in the early 70’s as the Hendrix influence at that time was obvious. Probably the best album to listen to is Bridge of Sighs - this album includes some of the best Trower material ever released. You also have to remember that Trower is now 62 years old, so he’s still got it - and the singer, Davey Pattison is no spring chicken either - Aynsley probably used to listen to his dads Trower albums when he was a lad!!!???

I don’t think anyone would deny Trower’s reputation or his skill.  Just that he seems still stuck in the 70’s and it sounds a bit dated. Nothing wrong with playing classics but we need to move on a bit too. Also the gig I went to at Bilston the sound quality was terrible. Really distorted if you were within 50 feet of the stage. I’ll give bridge of sighs a go though!

Amy - I know what you mean but seeing the likes of Trower is a bit of a nostalgia trip - a bit like seeing Zeppelin - you’d be disappointed if you went to see them and they didn’t play the old classics like Black Dog, Rock n Roll, Heartbreaker, Whole Lotta Love, Stairway to Heaven etc etc - same applies to ther bands that were big in the 70’s and 80’s that you perhaps grew up listening to..........shame about the sound quality at Bilston - Astoria2 in London was great - please give Bridge of Sighs a listen some time...........
