Anyone else have legitimate copies of Aynsley’s first 2 albums, ‘Messin With The Kid’ and ‘Pay Attention!’? Even all these years down the line and probably hundreds of gigs later, ‘Pay Attention!’ is still my favourite.
You lucky ones!! I’ve heard of these two records...would be interesting to listen to these early works of Mr. Lister...but I think it’s almost impossible to get a legal version...especially here in Germany :0(
I take it then these two albums aren’t available anymore, seeing as they’re not listed on the main AL’s site album section.
Why is this? is it record company red tape or something?
Perhaps the main site should put up a few mp3 snippets of the old stuff, just so that the new fans to AL (ie ME) can have a listen on what they’ve missed out on.... Just a thought from weary early morning brain
Have a good day all ... I’m wishing the day away and looking forward to tonight
These 2 albums were released pre the Ruf signing - I think it was Aynsley’s friend who recorded and had them made. The only way to get them now really is to hope they come up on ebay - tho that can be expensive, eh Anna?! Watch out tho because some years ago there was a company called Blues4Eva who sold them online and they were illegal bootlegs. Are you on myspace, Savorangu? I don’t think we can private message on here, if you are on myspace drop me a line - http://www.myspace.com/britbritbabe - and we can discuss this subject further!
I have both of the albums and think that they still sound good after all these years they were recorded in 1996. As for sound clips being posted I don’t expect it will happen since Aynsley does not have copies of these albums himself
I have both Albums and probably listen to them as much as the newer stuff if not more, Pay attention is my favourite, I know Aynsley from when we were kids and used to play in bands with him before he was old enough to play in propper pub bands (although he was awesome even then), I was a terrible keyboard player then, However I went on to teach myself to play bass by copying Richard’s bass playing on “Messing With The Kid” and “Pay Attention”. I used to listen to them over and over until I could play all the songs on the Albums. I now play bass prety seriously and was in a few good blues/rock bands before I messed it up by Joining the Navy! I would love to get new copies of the Albums as my copies are worn out and the packaging is all knackered from being played so much back then.
I have a legit copy of Messin’ With The Kid, which Aynsley very kindly signed for me last year at the 100 Club. I believe both Messin’ and Pay Attention were released under the label name “Tasty Records”, who only released those 2 CDs. They are both great CDs. You can definitely hear a lot more SRV influence in the music than is in his music today.
"Messin’ With The Kid” and “Pay Attention” were released on Tasty Records in 1996 and 1997 respectively. For anyone who wants copies, they both get regularly posted on Xnews.
I’m sorry Britbabe… no offence intended. How else will people get to hear Aynsley’s earlier stuff? The chances of these 2 CDs coming up on Ebay, GEMM or similar sites are pretty slim and could well be costly so downloading or copying (which is also frowned upon) are the only options. Let’s face it, it’s the music that matters.
Having said that, I didn’t realise that I would strike a nerve by mentioning Xnews and must apologise again. My excuses, I suppose are that I am a) passionate about my music and b) new to the world of forums.
I bought both “Messin’ With The Kid” and “Pay Attention!” at a gig in Wilbarston Hall several years ago. For my money, “Take Me To The River” from the second CD is one of the best live tracks ever recorded anywhere by anyone!
