What can be said about this..lets try.
Venue...A TOILET OR A SHED OR A VENUE... ALL OF THEM Beer & Lager...TOTAL WATER.COULD,NT HAVE GOT PISSED TO SAVE OUR LIVES.
Concert Info...NONE..Poor info on site.Don,t care attitude.AGAIN.
Start Time ..OPENED 7.30..GIG 9.35..POOR...Again ATTITUDE SUCKED.
Attitude of Ainsley.. VERY POOR.COULD NOT CARE LESS THAT WE HAD SAT FOR 2 HOURS IN THAT TOILET OF A PLACE WHILE HE PRANCED ABOUT NOT TELLING ANYONE WHAT TIME IT STARTED IT WAS OBVIOUS WE WERE ALL READY IT WOULD NOT HAVE MATTERED IF HE CAME ON 1 HOUR EARLY..SO WE COULD THEN GO FOR A DESCENT BEER AND GET OUT OF THAT PLACE.
Will we got again to see ainsley..yes.... to Guisborough...NO.. maybe coopers at guisley.
But he needs to be a bit more appreciative of his fans who drive a long way sometimes to see him, and get a better attitude. Instead of the I don,t care cannot be bothered, mode. Till the next time.

Hello,

Thankyou for posting your writeup of the gig at Guisborough. I can only apologise if you were not satisfied with the evening. However, please allow me to address your comments:

THE VENUE: What a venue serves from the bar is completely out of our control. In terms of the venue quality, we endeavour to play in decent venues and work with promotors who we know. However, every now and then not every aspect of this goes to plan.

CONCERT INFO: Again, we can only go on the information we are given by the promotor booking the band. The information we had on the site initially is what we were given.

START TIME: This was nothing out of the ordinary. Venues normally open doors at around 7.30pm and all gigs usually commence at approximately 9.30pm. After liasing with the promotor earlier in the evening, this is the time we had arranged. To go on earlier than normal could have meant people who showed up for a 9.30 start would have missed a good chunk of the gig. We had travelled 170 miles to the gig and were travelling back the same night. There was no reason we were going to start any later than normal.

MY ATTITUDE: I am sorry that you think I don’t care about those of you who travel to gigs and in some cases huge distances to come and see us. Quite the contrary. As a touring artist, I have a huge amount of resepct for the fans who keep us on the road and keep us doing what we do. Without you, we couldn’t do it.  It is not uncommon for us to see people arriving at doors open times. Again, the timings were nothing out of the ordinary. If you were that unhappy with what the bar had on offer then there was nothing stopping you checking the start time with the promotor and going somewehere else until the gig started. Obviously, I understand this was not ideal.

I hope this helps cover the points in your post and that it has not put you off coming to another gig.

Dear BAZNPAT

I am not one for answering these posts in the norm as it is an open forum for people to express views, but, some of your comments here are a little unfair in my opinion.

I stress, this is my opinion and not that of either Aynsley or Jo.

Yes the venue was not one of the best we encounter as it is not a dedicated music venue, but we always try to make the best of the situation, and we were invited to play. As it was the audience we encountered and chatted to post show were warm and appreciative of our performance on Saturday and very pleased that we were invited to play in Guisborough.

Regarding concert info, we passed on all the info we were given before hand which was duly displayed on the site, If it helps, we were a little confused with the venue information ourselves.

As for the start time, if you look at the gig list on this very site, you will see that all of Aynsley’s shows start at around 9pm. As a general rule most venues open doors at around 8pm this does differ depending on the promoter and venue.

We were given no information for a concert time untill I asked the promoter on the night and then we were asked to start between 9.20 and 9.30 and thats exactly what we did.

I am sorry you felt that we neither cared nor could be bothered to impart any information but we were just working with what we had.

We are always appreciative of our fans, Aynsley especially, which is why we spent a good 1.5 hours after the show signing CDs selling T-Shirts and chatting to people who came to say thanks!

Without the fans we don’t get to do what we do, unfortunatly there are circumstances that are out of even our control.

Once again I am sorry you feel let down, and I hope you get to see us again under better circumstances for yourself. I will however pass on your comments to Aynsley and the promoter for Saturday’s gig in the hope that it does not happen again.

Kind Regards

Thanks for the reply no intention of knocking you personally but the people at the venue had not intention of posting tickets so we took a chance on turning up and getting in..they had no idea when we arrived as to what time it started and were of no help.. And lets face it what a crap venue. It was,nt only us.. there were people all around us moaning about the gig start time. Nothing to do with you? But the fact we all had to sit in the shed cold and waiting.Unlike Coopers at Guisley.. clean.. warm.. friendly. Your site even had the wrong place for the gig. they said rugby club not football club. And nine o clock would have done no harm as a start time. We will all be going to see you again in the new year, As I said the gig as usual was great. And your band are awesome..best drummer we have seen in along lomg time. Keep Rocking.

Thanks for the reply..Not knocking you or the band which are awesome. Just the lack of info and the venue.. We saw u at coopers what a great night. The people at the gig were of no help. Example..I phoned them up to get info on tickets and asked “ Can u tell me how to get tickets for Ainsley Lister? yeah you turn up and but one” funny I said we live in scarborough and don,t want to drive 50 miles and not get in.. oh no problem he says ..what time does it start pause I don,t know. What time does it open..I don,t know..How much is it..I,m not sure,,,,Great help don,t you think?..Still we will be traveling again to see the band and bringing some new people who have not had the pleasure of seeing such a hard great workin band..But not at the Guisborough Shed .

I also attended the Guisbrough gig. This is the first time I have seen Aynsley and I was very impressed with him, especially his patience with what I thought was a crap venue and a weird audience. The crowd did not seem to know how to behave as a crowd, do they not have concerts in Guisbrough!!! I think that the men must have prostrate trouble as every two minutes loads of them were getting up and going to the toilet. In fact in the middle of an excellent slow blues solo three of them got up and went to the loo whilst having a chat on the way there.
I would recommend going to see Aynsley, but I cannot recommend the venue - what a dump. Plus how difficult was it to get tickets. there was no local publicity for the gig, the venue was publicized wrong on the web site and then you could never get in touch with the ticket sellers.
Come to the area again Aynsley but why not try the Arc in Stockton or indeed anywhere but Guisbrough Town ‘Prostrate Trouble’ Football Club

Thank God I thought I was the only person to notice the lack of enthusiasm from certain members of the Hill,s Have Eyes Brigade, and the state of the venue. Lets hope he never plays there again, cause if you add up the gits who were not bothered about the music and the people who did,nt like the gig and won,t go again then it won,t be worth playing there..There are far better venues than the cell Block H. Till the next time..Yes we will drive from scarborough to see the band again...BUT like you not to STALAG 13.

Well this is to all those people who had not got the imagination to handle Guisborough, I haven’t sen Aynsley there but I have been there in the past and had soem fab nights the latest of which featured Ian Siegal and was one of the best nights of my life. The club may be basic but I find that ok as after all it’s all about the music isn’t it? I don’t even know personally the people who run it except it is patently obvious that they do it from love of the Blies and that’s enough for me. If some of you had a bad night I’m sorry as it happens now and again but I don’t think you should take it out on a great little club which is only trying to bring music to us all. Aynsley is playing my town next month so I’ll let you know how it all went. Long live the blues and any clubs who make it possible to experience it. beryguru. xxx.

Imagination is one thing..That they have not got at the shed. There must be a B&Q somewhere by to buy paint and tart the place up a bit. As a very seasoned gig goer..this past MONTH BOWING FOR SOUP..MAGNUM..WALTER TROUT..AINSLEY LISTER..BOOKED FOR CHRIS REA..JETHRO TULL..NAZARETH..JOE BONAMASSA..IAN HUNTER..BON JOVI.. AND SO ON I have visited many many a gig and venue up and down the country..from the rough to the nice to the big venues. The point of the topic was that there was no communication about the gig..start time etc.. the muppets who would rather talk than listen to Ainsley… And the dump we were sat in FOR 2 HOURS WAITING FOR THE START.If they want to put on gigs at least use the revenue collected to make the place a bit more welcoming...and warmer.. We will be going as I said again on more than one occasion to see Ainsley...but not to the STALAG 13. Yeah long live the blues.

As someone else who has been to more gigs this year than is good for the bank balance (46 to date and right accross the board - a recent one one being at Ain’t Nothing But the Blues in Kingly Street, London which is smaller than my front room, has the bands stuffed up against the back corner so tightly that the drummers elbows are hitting the walls and boasts a smelly loo and a sticky bar and nothing else but is simply GREAT) and I don’t give a monkey’s what teh venue is like as long as the music’s right. Anyway Guisborough resembles my front room anyway so mebber that’s why I felt at home. To quote the amazing Ian S “get off your high horse” mate and let’s all stick together for the music. Love peace and tolerance from berylguru.

Yes you could say that...I try not to let visitors of a sensitive nature in but those that do get inside will have the benefit of a huge and comprehensive cd collection, coffee and alcohol but little else. My excuse is that I’m always out working which is partly true but actually it’s ‘cos I’m a too involved in more enjoyable activities to worry about my surroundings too much…

Guisborough R and B Club would like to make it known that we had nothing to do with the AYNSLEY LISTER gig which was held at the football club on nov 3rd.
Guisborough R and B club has been running at the football club for 7 years and is a very well attended, well organised, very friendly club, and people travel from a very wide area to see the class acts that we put on every month.
We also run a festival every year at the football club, which is also always sold out, bringing the very best os RHYTHM AND BLUES BANDS from America, Europe. and Britain. Our audience travels from all over the country to our festival and everybody who attends always has a great time.
We are backed by THE ARTS COUNCIL OF ENGLAND, THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, and also GUISBOROUGH TOWN PARTNERSHIP, so from this you can see that we are a well appreciated organisation, where genuin music lovers love to support our club.
We are very sorry if people have got the wrong impression of our club but this was totally out of our hands.
If you love RHYTHM AND BLUES please come along to our club and see what a friendly club we are.
cheers Kath

Well Kath, I’ll go along with that as my friends and I have had a few very memorable nights at your club and are looking forward to more in the future. I get the impression it’s all about the music and that is what I like. Keep up the good work as you are much apreciated by us lot from Dasrlo. See you on the 8th for the lovely Mike Sanchez! Love from Beryl. xxx.

Hi Beryl, thanks for that, we only heard about all the contraversy of the gig on 3rd nov. while we were away at Carlisle blues festival this weekend. This made us very concerned about the future of the club, and I just wanted to put matters straight about the Aynsley gig and that it had nothing whatsoever to do with Guisborough R and B club . see you on 8th dec . cheers Kath

Hey Kath, my pleasure ‘cos you run a brilliant little club and I think that you will have no probs with bums on seats (in spite of this misunderstanding which was nowt to do with you anyway) because you always put on the right stuff and do it well. We’ve enjoyed your hospitality a few times do date and will again on the 8th. Strangely enough we scived off work on Sunday to pop through to Carlisle to catch the brilliant Ian Siegal (who I had the pleasrue of seeing at Guisborough the other week too) and I thought he was mindblowingly great. Where you in that big room on Sunday??? Anyway I’ll find out when we see you next week. Love and best wishes from Beryl, Col and all at Guru. xxx.
