It was well worth the wait. I am, like my fellow listeners. impressed with the sound on the new album.
I particularly liked the live sound, with no background noise / whistles, etc. The production by Aynsley and Alan has really raised the bar.
The sleeve notes say ‘no audience’ ..... Some of us know otherwise!
Just as an aside, I recorded last week’s Jools Holland prog .... and it was dire. Has Aynsley ever been invited? If not, wouldn’t it be marvellous for Aynsley and the band to be invited ...a really good advert to British music. I then started to think back to the Tower sessions album…. if you were choosing a song for Aynsley to play, which would it be? I know that many (including me!) would be Purple Rain, but I would be (possibly) controversial ... it has to be Early Morning (Dew) or Hero. What do you think?

Thought I’d ask ask forum members to vote for their favourite track on Equilibrium.
The whole Album is superb - but which track stands out for you?
Is It:-
Soul
Time’s Up
What’s It All About
Forever
Crazy
Big Sleep
Running On Empty
Superficial
Early Morning Dew
Running Out On Me
Sugar Low
Hurricane.

By voting in this quick sample does not mean that none of the other tracks are not good it just says which one is your favourite. If we can get multiple voting it would be so much easier.

WOW, WOW and WOW again. If like me you were a little bit apprehensive about this album then trust me when I say you have nothing whatsoever to worry about. Simon’s drumming is superb, a fabulous driving bass line from Midus and Dan pulls the sound all together. As for the main man, if he has played better than this I would be very surprised. The production, which I thought would be the make or break of this album is quite superb, bright, powerful, and does it capture the ALB live sound, you bet it does. I know one or two people were not sure whether they were going to buy the album because they already had most of the songs, all I would say to that is that its worth £10 of anybodys money just for Purple Rain. It will blow you away, stunning doesn’t begin to describe how good a version it is. I am on my second play of the album now and I don’t think that will be the last today, and the volume is up a notch or three from the first play, lucky I am detached or else pity the neighbours. I hope everyone else will feel the same and agree its been well worth the wait.

My Dutch isn’t that good, so I let Google translate a Dutch review of the Tower Sessions:
http://www.bluesmagazine.nl/aynsley-lister-cd-tower-sessions/comment-page-1#comment-3601

Aynsley Lister - Tower Sessions
Format: CD
Label: Manhaton Records
Release: 28 juni 2010
Reviewer: Door Stan van der Lugt

Was not the only American artist Aynsley Lister and his previous album called Equilibrium in Classic Rock’s Top 10 of contemporary blues artists,
alongside bands like the White Stripes, The Black Keys and John Mayer.
This is quite a recommendation, but the young British guitarist / vocalist plays like this illustrious names, soulful blues with a modern edge
and Lister can not be confined to the known sizes 12 and 13 accidents in the genre.
The Tower Sessions shows the band after a 45-day tour live hear, but without an audience.
On this “bare” recordings without overdubs and so we hear an artist at his most vulnerable, but Aynsley proves once again the pick of the
British blues-rock with flawlessly executed to hear live versions of some favorite. The band is touring after a long and fully anticipate the sparks of the album.
Besides her own songs are on the Towers Sessions successful covers of “Purple Rain” and “Crosstown Traffic”.
Highlights are not called because the Tower Sessions from the first until the last second a dazzling listening experience that even after several spins remains fascinating.

That guy Door Stan van der Lugt is right.

The last year or so has seen a steady increase in the number of posts and users of this forum which is great. Something that we have become accustomed to is a good number of reviews of Aynsley’s shows, by both existing forum members and new members, some of which have continued to post on the forum.

I’m not sure of the reasons, but it’s very disappointing to see so few reviews and comments about the performances that Aynsley has been playing since the It Bites tour. I feel there’s something special about seeing the Aynsley Lister Band and that these posts not only encourage conversation, but they are useful to visitors to the site who may be considering seeing Aynsley for the first time and wish to know a little more about his show. The other artists section of the forum is great in that it allows us to discuss other musicians that may be of interest and great for keeping the forum activity going when Aynsley is not touring or releasing new albums, but when it becomes the focal point when Aynsley is touring it does appear to make the forum look unbalanced.

Aynsley has played in many places from Kendal in the north to Crawley in the south in recent weeks, so it would be nice to hear from people how the gigs went. Those of us who have not had an Aynsley show to see in recent times cannot be expected to keep the forum ticking over when there are many reading the forum that have seen him in recent weeks and not shared their own experiences. So please hold back on any inhibitions and apathy and tell us how the shows have been.
