Blog Entry November 30th 2006

Yes Yes Yes… another journal!! Has it really that long since I posted one? Oh well… as usual time has flown by. So, an update….

Well, it’s been the craziest year yet, what with the Blues Caravan, the line-up change, the trips to and from America, the new album….

“So what’s it like not having a proper job??… Argghhh!! … OK so it might not be a conventional 9-5 job and yeah, it’s great fun.. but it does involve a LOT of hard work!! OK, I love it and wouldn’t want to do anything else…

The last ever Blues Caravan Tour of 2006 was completed on 12th November in Apeldoorn, Holland. After a year of touring together, the final gig culminated in the inevitable end of tour ‘Blooz Party’!! After a 5pm kick off to a rammed room, it was a cracking night and a great end to a brilliant year.

As you might have noticed on the GIGS page, the are going to be more tours with Ian Parker and his band next year when we will be touring together again with the new albums…. But it’s NOT A BLUES CARAVAN SHOW!!…. We just decided that after working together for most of this year and how well it worked, it’d be fun to tour together once again especially as we will both have new studio albums out. So those will be full shows of both Ian’s band and us lot and will feature material from the new albums. So about that album…

Suddenly realising it’s about four years since I last went into the studio to do a solo album, the general consensus was that it is time for a new one!! So I have been writing and writing, evaluating what I’ve written, scrapping some, keeping others, trying them out, changing them.. writing more… booking studios, rearranging diary, having studio cancellations, looking for alternative studios, rebooking studios… etc! It’s been fun!!

So right now, after lots of juggling around, the album is finally ready to be done with just a couple of weeks before we get cracking…. Hopefully it will be done ready for the touring schedule planned for next year. As for what will be on it… well you’ll just have to wait and see Ha Ha!

Now then… the new band….!! Well after a couple of tours with the Blues Caravan and a handful of UK shows I have to say it’s absolutely spandangly! Both Rich and Jo have settled in very nicely… not to mention a certain individuals uncanny ability to seek out another bottle of red wine no matter how adverse the
circumstances!!

So what else? Ohh the MySpace thing!! Not being that up on this stuff, I never realised how popular it is! Should have done it ages ago, but there you go! If you haven’t already checked it out, the log onto http://www.myspace.com/aynsleylister
Well, that’s about it for now. Take care of yourselves, have a good Christmas and see you all very soon!!
