Aynsley Lister - The Official Website

Blog Entry February 20th 2007

Posted by Aynsley on Tuesday 20th February, 2007.

Well I’m enjoying another day off before we complete the final leg of the UK ‘Double Vision’ Tour. So why ‘Double Vision’?... Well it was last year that Ian and myself realised we had known each other for the past decade and had grown up listening to almost the exact same records. However, we have both taken different elements of these influences and gone in different directions with them – almost two different visions…......WELL, OK… the real reason for the name: touring together for the most part of 2006 and the ensuing alcoholism that consumed all involved!!!

So, rewind a couple of weeks to when it all began on the 2nd day of February. With the new album being dropped on my door the day before the first show, it was tight but it all worked out in time for the first show of the tour at London’s 100 Club….

Adrenaline kicked in as soon as we arrived at the venue and were met by Ian (Parker) and his band. Following a couple of hours running through the new songs earlier in the week, the nerves were beginning to set in come show time… Also, deciding to start the show together before the individual sets was something that we had discussed… but not actually tried out!!

So with show time looming, the jam band consisting of Wayne and Morg from Ian’s band and Jo from mine took the stage and launched into the first tune….. apparently in the key of C…. C Major. Next came Morg’s wonderful introduction to which Ian and myself join the band on stage for some hard blues action!! A bit of jamming and fun to warm ‘em up before it’s time for the first set of the evening.

We decided to alternate the running order each night so tonight we went first!!! Armed with a new set, half of which we’ve never played live before… the nerves were working. However, once off the jitters quickly subsided with every song getting a fantastic response…. It went so quickly!!! Needless to say bucket loads of the new album were taken home by many getting everything off to a fine start.

From then on the tour really has flown by with again plenty of memorable moments….. Aberdeen’s initial response probably wasn’t helped when Morg took the stage and began his introduction with “Good Evening Glasgow!?…. not to mention a few evenings later when Ian and myself were introduced on stage as ‘Aynsley Parker and Ian Lister!!? Of course we haven’t let him forget this so far!!! Well, it’s supposed to be fun isn’t it?
As the shows went on, the gigs only got better with some amazing nights– most notable so far were Southampton and Wolverhampton where the end of night jam has taken on a life of it’s own!!

So just three shows left before we take a short break. Thanks to all for turning out and grabbing the new album. It is officially released on March 12th so expect to hear some of it on the wireless in the following weeks!!

TTFN,

Aynsley
